Heys welcome Pilkington to Adie Moran Park tomorrow night in a League Division One North fixture.

The visitors are new to the League this season having stepped up from the Cheshire League, where they finished Premier Division Champions last season, pipping Altrincham Reserves on goal difference to the title.

They initially found the step up difficult with only two wins in the first nine games although significantly they are the only team to beat Lower Breck so far this season, recording a 3-1 home win on 21st August.

However, there are now signs they are finding their feet at the higher level, signified by a stunning 8-0 away win at Garstang last Wednesday night.

A 1-0 win at Chadderton in the Player.com Cup on Saturday underlines their improvement and they arrive here knowing that a win would see them leapfrog Heys.

It’s been a bit stop start for Heys so far this season. Losing their first two games, a five-match unbeaten run marked a return to form and pushed Jon Lyons men up to fourth.

However, heavy defeat in the last two League outings at AFC Blackpool and at home to Lower Breck have derailed things a little and Heys now find themselves 12th in the table.

In a tight division though they remain only five points off the promotion spots and have a game in hand and will be aiming to bridge that gap tomorrow night.

Although, the teams have never met in a League match before their paths have crossed. On the 7th October 1995 Heys won 2-0 in a Lancashire Amateur Shield match here at Sandgate Road. Mark Christian, a product of Neil Sankey’s successful youth side, scored both Heys goals.
