A 63rd minute Brad Sixsmith goal gave Heys victory over AFC Darwen at Adie Moran Park this afternoon.
In what was Heys last home game of the season the midfielders strike gave Heys a richly deserved victory that ensures they will finish fifth in the table.
Heys dominated the game for long periods but looked like being thwarted by a dogged Darwen side who were reduced to ten men just after the hour for a second bookable offence.
Almost immediately, Heys made it count when Will Shawcross broke down the left before knocking a lovely ball across goal, which just missed Lee Grimshaw's outstretched leg before finding Sixsmith at the far post ready to tap in.
Heys might have increased their lead thereafter but then had to survive a late Darwen rally in which Russell Saunders pulled off a great save to ensure the points.
