Heys final game of 2024 takes them to Gigg Lane tomorrow for a NW Counties Premier Division clash with Bury (3pm).
It's match that pits top against bottom with our hosts presently leading the way on goal difference from Ramsbottom, with both sides locked on 61 points.
Bury have been steadily consistent this season with only two defeats so far, having won seventeen and drawn ten whilst being by far and away the division's top scorers with 84 goals. Afer a blip in mid November that brought three defeats in four League and Cup games, the Shakers are now five games unbeaten.
In contrast, Heys go into the game bottom of the table. It's been a tough season at Adie Moran Park and Heys have all it do if they are to secure their place in the Premier Division. They are currently ten points adrift of third bottom Squires Gate whom they host on 4th January and the next month could well define their future.
Bouyed by their win against Longridge last weekend, Heys put up a gutsy and resilent performance at Irlam on Boxing Day before losing 1-0. They will have to show much more of the same endeavour tomorrow infront of what will likely be another bumper crowd at Gigg Lane.
