Although unbeaten in their last six matches in League and FA Cup it’s points Heys will be seeking as they look to push up the table. They go into the game in 13th place with six points from five games, having drawn three of those games. Ryan Hutchinson will be looking for his side to begin turning those one pointers into three in the coming weeks as the season gains momentum. For all clubs August is largely about getting as many points as possible on the board amongst the disruption of the holiday season. September is then the time when the table starts to take shape as sides settle.

The aim will be to pick up the momentum in the coming weeks although the trip to the Riverside represents a tough hurdle. Ramsbottom have been in the play off positions in each of the last two seasons but not quite been able to make the step up. It’s been a summer of upheaval at the Rams with long serving Steve Wilkes stepping down as Manager. New boss Rob Henry has been able to retain several players from last season’s squad whilst adding signings of his own.

It has been a mixed start so far with Rammy sitting in eighth place with eight points from six games, having won two, drawn two and lost two, so far. Saturday’s 4-1 home win over AFC Liverpool ended a four-game run in League and Cup without a win. Prolific Striker Gareth Hill, who joined from Barnoldswick Town in the summer, has hit the ground running with eight goals to his credit already.

The sides met three times in the space of a month last season in League and Cup, and the Rams prevailed in all three. Heys will be hoping to end that sequence on Tuesday night.

Due to adjacent building works, parking for spectators should be away from the ground, in either town centre car parks (drivers are advised to check any time limits) or in the various side streets, all of which are no more than 5-10 minutes walk away but please be mindful of local residents and businesses.

Please be aware that the access road to Ramsbottom Cricket Club and Ramsbottom United FC has now had a no parking policy imposed with immediate effect carrying a fine of £100. Please do not park on this road. Parking at the Harry Williams Stadium is for club officials, players and match officials ONLY.

All spectators must park away from the stadium at local parking (Please check parking restrictions). The road leading up to the ground is also restricted and anyone parking there could receive a parking fine from the housing estate (Signs are clearly signposted) which Ramsbottom United have no control over.

Various bus routes come into Ramsbottom town centre (https://bustimes.org/localities/ramsbottom for details) and the East Lancs Railway (https://www.eastlancsrailway.org.uk/events-activities/western-region-weekend/) station is adjacent to the ground.

Tea Bar serving hot and cold drinks, pie and peas, sweets, crisps etc will be open within the ground, as will the Can Bar serving beer, lager and cider.
