LITHERLAND REMYCA 0 PRESTWICH HEYS 2
WEDNESDAY 27TH NOVEMBER 2025 NW COUNTIES LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION ATT:73
Report by Stephen Howard
Heys returned to winning ways with a well-deserved victory at Litherland Remyca on Wednesday night. After a difficult run of fixtures, which had seen only one point collected from their last four League fixtures, goals from Luke Findlow and Takura Sambizi secured a welcome three points.
The hosts have had a miserable season thus far. After collecting four points from their opening two fixtures, they came into this game having lost their last eighteen League matches. However, Heys had lost on four of their previous five visits here, so if there was any trepidation amongst fans, it was understandable.
From the off however, Heys asserted their authority, dominating the possession with the home team looking to counter on the break. The clearest chance came from Josh Tinker, but his shot was straight at home keeper Patrick McLoughlin.
Despite their possession, the breakthrough for Heys came from a more direct route in the 18th minute. After being awarded a free kick, twenty yards out, Luke Findlow marked his return after suspension, with a superbly struck shot into the top left-hand corner.
Litherland continued to be busy but unable to stretch the Heys rearguard. Tinker had another couple of sights of goal but without reward as Heys went in ahead at the break.
The pattern of the game continued on the restart. The home side again found themselves penned back whilst Heys moved the ball around confidently and with increasing threat. Bryson Appleton twice brought good saves from McLoughlin.
As the game entered the final quarter though, one wondered if Heys may caught out, holding such a slender lead. However, in the 70th minute such fears were allayed in impressive style. Some good work by Appleton released Takura Sambizi on halfway and the Heys man, wearing the number nine shirt in the absence of Louis Holt, used his pace to leave the home defence trailing before lifting the ball over the advancing keeper and into the net.
The goal saw Heys ring the changes ahead of a heavy fixture load, with opportunities given to some of the younger players with Jacob Ramplin, Louie Hutchinson, and Job Dengoue coming on along with a debut for sixteen-year-old Harvey Riva.
Ramplin might have added to Heys tally in the closing moments but was denied one on one by the impressive McLoughlin.
This was a comfortable win for Heys to move them up a place to fourteenth in the table and with their next five League games at home they will hope to push on amidst the strains of a hectic schedule.
