Heys welcome South Liverpool to Adie Moran Park tomorrow in the NW Counties Premier Division (3pm), looking to build on their first League win of the season.
Tuesday's 2-1 win over West Didsbury & Chorlton proved a real tonic, particularly after the last gasp, undeserved loss at Irlam last weekend. The irony is that Heys played better at Irlam, than they did on Tuesday and that in many ways reflects their season thus far. Results have not matched performances. However, it is all about picking up points, and the Didsbury win moved Heys upto 19th in the table, with seven points from eight games. With only one loss in the last five, Heys will be looking to push on, now they have chalked up that first victory.
South Liverpool, like Heys, struggled in the lower reaches of the table last season, before a late surge lifted them out of the relegation battle with games to spare as they finished 20th. They have built on that momentum at the start of the new season and come into the game in 12th place, with twelve points from nine matches.
They come into the game after back to back home defeats to FC St.Helens (1-2) and West Didsbury (0-1). However, their best form has come on the road this season with three wins out of their four away games including a 6-1 win at Pilkington where strike Neil Weaver grabbed a hat-trick.
