Heys return to League action on Bank Holiday Monday as they make the trip to Barnoldswick Town (3pm).
After Saturday’s thoroughly deserved Isuzu FA Vase win at 1874 Northwich, Heys will look to build on that success by gaining valuable League points. They are still yet to taste victory in the League where their first four games have yielded just two points from away draws at Euxton Villa and Stockport Town sandwiched either side of home defeats to Padiham and Burscough.
Despite, their points return there have been good signs for Heys in all those games, but they will travel conscious of the fact that those near misses and fine margins need to turn in their favour as they seek their first win.
Barnoldswick also tasted Vase success at the weekend with a 3-2 home win over Birtley Town. It was their first success on home soil this season after heavy League defeats in their opening two home League fixtures, losing 0-5 and 0-6 to Charnock Richard and Chadderton respectively. However, they have picked up wins away from home with a 3-1 win at Litherland Remyca and a 3-2 success at Euxton Villa. All told they have six points from their opening five League matches having also lost at Cheadle Town (2-0) on the opening day of the season.
Heys will have to keep an eye on Kuda Chingwaro who has five goals to his credit thus far, four of which have come in their last two games.
Last season’s trip to Barlick came late in the season and saw Heys stage a memorable late comeback from two goals down to win 3-2 and make the ultimately successful escape from relegation a possibility. Heys will hope Monday’s game will have a similar springboard effect on their fortunes as they seek three points.
