Heys raise the curtain on their home NW Counties League Premier Division campaign on Tuesday night (29th July) when Padiham visit Adie Moran Park.
The Lancashire side were the first opposition for Ryan Hutchinson and his team when they took charge last October and they showed no mercy in winning 3-0.
Now, as the first visitors to Prestwich of the season Padiham will be looking to make their mark again. They come into the game on the back of a hugely impressive 3-0 win at Wythenshawe on Saturday that suggests they may be likely to be be challenging at the top end of the table again, having reached the play offs in each of the last two seasons.
From a Heys perspective the game will act as an early indicator as to their progress. There has been much change in personnel since Ryan took charge and having staved off relegation last season, the aim is definitely to be looking to be higher up the table this time around.
Although there was a feeling Heys should probably have won at Euxton on Saturday, as they drew 1-1, there was much to suggest that they won’t struggle this season.
However, it’s about turning that promise into points and tomorrow nights game may give an indication as to where Heys are in their development.
It has the makings of a cracking game.
