Heys welcome Pilkington to Adie Moran Park on Saturday, in a huge game in their quest to escape relegation from the NW Counties Premier Division.
Ryan Hutchinson’s side have made great strides since the turn of year in clawing back a ten point gap on Squires Gate and Colne to move out of the relegation zone. However, there is still work to do as they enter the last ten games of the season.
The aim now is to push on and that involves closing in on the teams above them, of which Pilkington are one. The St. Helens side are one place above Heys but hold a five-point advantage. A victory seems essential for the hosts if they are to close that gap and draw their visitors into the relegation battle.
Pilkington come into the game on the back of five successive defeats, their last points coming from a 4-3 win at Squires Gate at the beginning of January. However, they have made a habit of winning games against those around them having also beaten Heys, Colne and South Liverpool in recent months, a habit they will be looking to continue. They possess a real threat in in 18 goal Ryan Beigan who scored twice when Pilks beat Heys 3-2 in November.
Heys were beaten at home by Bury last time out but gave a good account of themselves. Prior to that they had won four home games on the trot and will look to return winning ways tomorrow.
