Heys kick off the New Year with a crunch home game against Squires Gate at Adie Moran Park on Saturday (3pm).
The Blackpool side are presently third from bottom, twelve points ahead of Heys, having played the same games. They come into the game on the back of six successive defeats but their last two outings have seen them push Charnock Richard and Ramsbottom all the way with single goal defeats, with the latter striking an inury time winner to record a 2-1 succcess last weekend. Whilst Gate have the Division's leakiest defence they are more than capable at the other end with Dean Ing, James Boyd and James Hughes all in double figures whilst Heys need no introduction to the scoring prowess of Jack Coop.
Heys have delivered three encouraging performances over Christmas with the deserved home win over Longridge and an unlucky 1-0 loss at Irlam. They 5-2 scoreline in the defeat at Bury was also harsh, with Heys level with going into the last twenty minutes.
However, they now need to turn performances into results and tomorrow's game is a must win. A loss would leave Heys thirteen points off safety going into the last sixteen games, which would look a tall order. A win would reduce the gap to seven and and leave the door open for the great escape.
