Late goals from Bryson Appleton and Dre Taylor gave Heys a 2-1 victory at Charnock Richard in the FA Vase 1st round this afternoon.
In a tight contest, with little to choose between the sides, Charnock went ahead in the 56th minute when former Heys player Matt Davies held the ball up, before sliding through Nathan Nickeas, who fired into the bottom left corner.
As Heys pressed for the equaliser, the hosts were reduced to ten men in the 80th minute when 'keeper Ryan Hamer brought down Louis Holt in a one on one. From the resultant free-kick Bryson Appleton fired a shot into the top corner to level matters.
With a minute of normal time remaining, Heys completed the comeback when Dre Taylor scored from close range to ensure Heys place in Monday's second round draw.
