Heys opened their pre-season campaign with a 3-2 win at Golcar United tonight.
Two goals from Bryson Appleton and a further strike from Luke Mann saw Heys open up a three goal
lead in the first half before the hosts pulled one back before the break.
Appleton’s first came in the 9th minute when he met a cross in from the right with a far post finish.
Five minutes later the Heys wide man added a second as he cut in from the left to fire home from 12 yards.
Heys were very much in the ascendancy and in the 25th minute Luke Mann cut in from the right before firing a shot into the bottom left corner for Heys third.
On the stroke of half time Golcar pulled a goal back to set the scene for a much closer second half. With changes in personnel from both sides the hosts held the edge possession wise but chances were at a premium.
However, the hosts pulled an another goal back in the 80th minute to make for a tense finish but Heys were solid in seeing out the win.
Next up for Heys is a home friendly against Atherton Collieries on Saturday (4th July), kick off 3pm. Admission is Adults £5, Concessions £3, Aged16 and Under Free.
