The League season may have ended but Heys still have Cup football to look forward to starting with Tuesday nights trip to Bury AFC in the Macron Cup 1st Round. (7.45pm)
Our neighbours have enjoyed a fantastic first season in the North West Counties League being crowned Division One North Champions in front of some bumper crowds at the Neuven Stadium.
Bury will be looking to add to their title crown with a Macron Cup run providing the chance to test themselves against Premier Division opposition, providing an insight into what may await next season.
Heys of course made that step up last Summer and after initially finding the gap between the divisions to be a big one adapted well to secure Premier Division football with six games to spare.
After a hectic campaign Matt Barnes side have enjoyed a welcome ten-day break since completing their League fixtures and the Heys boss will be looking for his side to come out refreshed after couple of jaded performances at the tail end of the campaign. A cup run would certainly put the gloss on a landmark season.
The sides have met once before in a Division One game in the brief 2020-21 campaign with Heys running out last gasp 2-1 winners at Radcliffe courtesy of two Jack Coop goals.
The winners of Tuesday night’s tie will be at home to Barnoldswick Town or Steeton in the 2nd Round with this Saturday, 9th April set as the provisional date.
Admission is Adults £6, Children Free. Pay at the Gate.
