Heys Under 23’s begin their Lancashire League East Division season tomorrow night when they host Barnoldswick Under 23’s at Adie Moran Park. (7.45pm).
After two seasons in the NW Youth Alliance, Nick Simister now takes his side into a new era competing at a more senior level. He has kept many of his players from the Youth Alliance squad and added to it with an influx of new players following successful open trials.
Indeed, pre-season has gone remarkably well. Nine matches have brought seven wins, a draw and one defeat whilst scoring 45 goals.
It will be form that Simister will be hoping his side can replicate at the new level, but he will be only too aware that his side face a step up from the levels they have played at previously.
