Heys continued their pre-season preparations with a 3-1 win at Stockport Georgians on Saturday, whilst the Under 21’s drew with Salford City.
On a scorching hot day, Heys Management spread their resources across both fixtures, providing a mix of youth and experience in both games.
At Stockport, Heys made the perfect start, taking the lead after ten minutes with James Badrock scoring at the far post from a corner.
Enjoying the better of the game, they increased their lead in the 24th minute, when a swift break culminated in Bryson Appleton (pictured) slotting home after a Michael Burke shot had come off the bar.
Into the second half, Heys continued to hold the upper hand and added a third goal in the 54th minute when pressure on the home side saw them seize possession and the ball was worked to Takura Sambizi to fire home.
The hosts did pull one in the 67th minute following a scramble at a corner and it sparked a stronger finish from them, but Heys held firm to collect the win.
Earlier in the day Heys Under 21’s travelled to Hopwood Hall to face their Salford City counterparts. However, it was one of the “senior” players who scored their goal, with Alfie Belcher netting in a 1-1 draw.
Next up for Heys, is the visit of FC United of Manchester to Adie Moran Park on Tuesday night, for a friendly. (7.45pm). Admission is Adults £5, Concessions £3, Under 16’s FREE.
