LIAM Morissey has told his Prestwich Heys side to make their dominance count after they were made to pay in their opening day loss at Hindsford.

The Manchester League Premier Division side, who were in action at Leigh Athletic last night, were beaten 2-0 after spurning some glorious opportunties.

“It was a lesson that we need to take our chances,” said Morissey. “We played some good stuff and had three or four good chances in the first half.

“I told them at half time that, if they didn’t take them they would regret it, and then Hindsford banged one in from 35 yards.

“The match should have been over after 20 minutes if we had our shooting boots on and I just hope it will prove to be a one-off.”

The Sandgate Road side have a busy schedule lined up and face three games in just six days.

They host Hollinwood on Saturday (2pm), visit Old Alts on Tuesday (6.30pm) and are at home to Eagley in the Goldline Trophy quarter-finals on Thursday (6.15pm).

It’s a hectic beginning to the season, but Morissey is confident he has the manpower to handle it.

“I have got enough players,” said Morissey. “I have got about 20 players available to me and they are all desperate to play.

“It’s about them gelling together as a team now. We have done well in the Goldline Trophy over the summer but we were disappointed at being beaten in our opening league game.

“We have got some big games coming up and hopefully we can get our season going with a few good victories.”
