Heys drawn away at Stockport Town in Macron Cup

First Cup draw of the season is made

Heys have been drawn away to Stockport Town in the NW Counties League Macron Cup 1st Round.

The draw was made at today's League AGM in Blackpool and sees Heys make the trip around the M60 to face a Stockport side who finished tenth in the Premier Division last season during which they beat Heys at home and away by 1-0 and 2-0 scorelines respectively. Indeed its a tough tie for Heys, in their three visits to Stockport Sports Village, they have lost on each occasion.

No date has been fixed as yet but the tie will likely be played on a midweek date.

The full draw has again been split into four broadly geographically groups. Charnock Richard, as holders of the Cup, received a bye into the Second Round, alongside Ramsbottom United and Padiham as the two highest finishers in last seasons' Premier Division that remain in the League. Maghull have also received a bye after drawing FC Isle of Man in Group 3, who have again elected to withdraw from the competition this season.

League fixtures are expected in the next fortnight. As in previous seasons, matches upto the end of August will be announced first, with the rest at a later date. The season starts on Saturday 26th July.
