Heys preparations for the new NW Counties League season, which commences on 1st August, are underway.
The players are being put through their paces ahead of a series of friendlies throughout July, commencing on the first of the month with a trip to Golcar United.
As announced last month Heys have been successful in retaining the vast majority of last season’s squad, which finished seventh in the Premier Division, whilst recording their highest ever points tally (83) at step five of the non-League pyramid.
There have been a couple of departures with last season’s top scorer Takura Sambizi departing for Northern Premier League Chasetown whilst the versatile Luke Byron has signed for Premier Division rivals FC St. Helens. Both moves offered the players clubs moves closer to their home base.
Heys have moved to replace both players with two astute signings from Premier Division rivals.
Joining from Burscough is right sided wing back Harry Cannon-Noren (pictured right), who figured 47 times for them last season, earning four Man of the Match Awards.
Also signing is Toby Green. The attacking midfielder/forward had an outstanding season with Stockport Town securing fourteen Man of the Match Awards in 40 appearances whilst scoring eleven goals. With Stockport having withdrawn from the League, Heys Management have moved quickly to secure his signature.
