Club Statement : Lee O'Brien & James Hampson

STEPHEN HOWARD19 Apr 2024 - 15:50

.

Joint Manager’s Lee O’Brien and James Hampson will be leaving the club at the end of the season.

After talks this morning with Chairman Jon Lyons, it was agreed to make the announcement today, ahead of our final League game of the season at Pilkington tomorrow.

The duo took the reins at Adie Moran Park two years ago and in both seasons have led the club to their highest ever finishes and points totals in the Non-League pyramid.

In making their decision, Lee said today “After a long hard slog of a season myself and James have decided to part with Prestwich Heys. We would like to thank Chairman Jon Lyons and Steve Howard, who has fulfilled Secretary duties, for their support in recent months along with the fabulous volunteers at the club.”

“We have operated under some testing and challenging circumstances during our time at the club and yet come close to delivering an historic promotion. The changes at the club at the turn of the year delivered some particularly difficult challenges and, in that respect, we would like to pay our respects to the players. In a non-league world full of mercenaries, the lads have been fantastic.”

“We have a long-standing affinity with Heys and that will not change. We will remain fully committed to finish the season with a win tomorrow and fulfil our duties in terms of end of season presentations etc. Ultimately, however James and I feel we have now taken the club as far we can, and we wish it well for the future”.

We would like to thank Lee and James for their hard work and commitment to the club, on and off the pitch, over these past two years. Both have a long connection with the club as players, with Lee starting his adult football career in the Youth team here. We are sad to see them leave, and they will always be welcome at Adie Moran Park, and we wish them well for the future.
