Heys return to League action on Bank Holiday Monday when they make the trip to Barnoldswick Town.
After being unlucky to lose after two hard fought FA Cup tussles with higher level opposition in Stocksbridge, Lee O’Brien and James Hampson will be looking for their side to pick up some points in the League as they begin a busy run of NW Counties Premier Division fixtures.
In the next twenty days Heys will play six games, as they look to catch up on the sides around them. Despite, their inactivity in the League, where they have played only four matches, they remain fifth in the table. However, they have points to make up on the top three with Vauxhall Motors, AVRO and AFC Liverpool all having made impressive starts.
The other side above Heys are tomorrow’s opponents Barnoldswick who have collected ten points from their opening six games. They opened their campaign with back-to-back home wins over Winsford United (3-1) and Kendal Town (4-1). A 5-2 away defeat at West Didsbury was followed by a 3-0 home loss to AVRO.
A 3-2 win at Burscough got them back on the winning trail before they picked up a home point against Charnock Richard in a 2-2 draw. They were further boosted by an impressive 1-0 victory at Blyth Town in the FA Vase on Saturday.
Heys last two League outings brought impressive displays in a 4-1 home win over Charnock Richard and the 2-0 derby win at Bury AFC. Heys know they will have to reproduce those performance levels again if they are to record a welcome win over a Barnoldswick side who won both league encounters last season.
