Late Shelley goal sinks Heys

Heys suffered a frustrating night as they were beaten by a solitary goal at Shelley.

Making their first ever visit to the Yorkshire side, Heys dominated for long periods of the game but were unable to turn their control in goals.

Heys best chance in the opening half came in the 35th minute when Lee Grimshaw broke through after a great ball by Jamie Baguley but the striker puts his shot wide.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Heys bossing possession and they had another good chance on the hour when Theo Kidd broke through, but the home keeper saved well, pushing the ball out for a corner.

As the game progressed, Heys became increasingly frustrated which transferred itself into poor final balls thus failing to realise some promising opportunities.

In the 75th minute, disaster struck as Shelley took the lead when from a corner Daniel Lockwood came in from the back to slam the ball into top left corner of the net.

Whilst Heys strained to retrieve the situation, it was to no avail as they missed the chance to climb into the top five.

Heys Man of the Match Jamie Baguley (pictured) summed the feeling up afterwards when he said "How the hell did we lose that game? We dominated from start to finish! Our luck has to change soon, and a run will start!"
