Heys return to Adie Moran Park on Tuesday night by welcoming one of their old rivals from their Manchester League days in Wythenshawe.

The visitors dropped the “Amateurs” from their name in the Summer but under that guise there have been 57 previous meetings between the clubs, with honours even thus far at 22 wins a piece.

The game offers the chance to edge ahead on that score, but of far more importance will be the three points.

Heys come into the game on the back of successive away draws at Charnock Richard and Squires Gate and with a five-point return from their first four games. There have been plusses and minuses so far, the FA Cup win over Bootle showed their capabilities and they are unbeaten in their last four games, following that opening day loss to Burscough. However, Lee O’Brien and James Hampson will be looking for their side to build momentum in the coming weeks to ensure they keep the early pacesetters in sight.

One of those is Wythenshawe who following their promotion from Division One South last season have made a great start to life in the Premier Division. Having made the eye-catching appointment of Sacha Lord as Chairman in the Summer and added to their squad they were hotly tipped for success. They have started well, winning their first three League matches with 4-0 wins over Ramsbottom and Cheadle Town and a 3-1 victory over Irlam. Throw in a FA Cup win over Campion and they have made the perfect start.

They come into the game in second place with nine points with Heys, having played a game more, four points behind in thirteenth. The hosts will be hoping that number proves unlucky for the visitors.
