Heys will travel to Penistone Church in the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup this Saturday (3pm).

The Yorkshire side defeated City of Liverpool FC, 3-1 in their Extra Preliminary Round replay last week, following a 2-2 draw on Merseyside. With Heys having defeated Bootle 3-1, it means both teams knocked out higher level opposition in the Extra Preliminary Round.

The trip to Northern Counties Division One side Penistone, is one Heys have made before, having lost on penalties there in the FA Vase in the Covid curtailed 2020-21 season before playing a pre-season friendly there twelve months later. Penistone have made a great start to their season having also won their first three League games and this will be a tough challenge for Heys.

Lee O'Brien and James Hampson will be looking for their side to bounce back from Tuesday night's defeat to Wythenshawe. Heys were unbeaten in four games prior to that setback, form they know will need to rediscover if they are to progress to the First Qualifying Round.

If the scores are level at 90 minutes then the game will go to a replay to be played at Adie Moran Park on Tuesday night, 22nd August, 7.45pm.

The winners of the tie will receive £1,444 whilst the losers will get £481.

From North: Leave M1 at J37, take 3rd exit A628 Manchester. After ½ mile take 2nd exit A628 Manchester. After approx. 4 mile take 2nd exit A628 Manchester then at traffic lights turn left to Penistone Town Centre. On entering town centre after pelican crossing take 1st left Victoria Street then 2nd left. Ground is on your right.

From South: Leave M1 at J35A at roundabout take 2nd exit A616 Manchester. At next roundabout take 2nd exit A616 Manchester then take 1st exit signed Penistone, Huddersfield A629. Follow this road through Wortley, Thurgoland and then take B6462 then travel under 3 railway bridges. Turn sharp left after 3rd bridge and follow road to the right onto Church View Road. Ground is approx. 600 yards on left.

Public Transport: Station: Penistone ½ mile. Up Station Approach, then left into Sheffield Road, left into Eastfield Avenue, right into Church View Road, ground on left.
