After away wins at West Didsbury and Padiham in the previous rounds of the Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy, Heys will hit the road again on Tuesday night when they travel to Colne in the Quarter Finals (7.45pm).

The Bet Victor Northern Premier League 1st Division North West side presently sit fifth from bottom of that Division but have played only nine League games so far as a result of reaching the 4th Qualifying Round of the FA Cup and the 3rd Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy.

The weather has further impacted on their ability to make up ground with only three games played in the last month, which have seen two defeats and a win.

To reach this stage Colne scored a 5-0 home win over Bacup in the 2nd Round having had a bye in the 1st Round.

Heys themselves go into the game looking to pick up their form after successive League defeats. After the hugely disappointing defeat again Daisy Hill last weekend it’s been a difficult week at Adie Moran Park but the desire to get out on the park and put things right is strong at the start of a busy period of eight games in 25 days.

This is the first time the sides have met with Colne FC having formed in 1996.

However, Heys faced Colne Dynamoes, whose ground the current club play at, in the inaugural season of the North West Counties League with both teams competing in the Third Division.

Colne were at the start of their meteoric rise through the Leagues which took them up to the brink of the Conference before their businessman owner pulled the plug.

In the two meetings back then Colne won 1-0 at Heys old ground of Grimshaws. However, the return saw Heys run out 4-0 winners with a performance that the late Norman Dearden described in his match report as one of the best displays of attacking football he had ever seen by a Heys side. Here’s hoping the Class of 2019 can make some more memories on Tuesday night.
