Heys head to AFC Darwen on Wednesday night for their re-arranged Macron Cup 2nd Round tie.
The match was scheduled for Adie Moran Park last Friday but was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
The decision was taken to move the game to Darwen, who boast a brand new 4g playing surface, to ensure the game went ahead with more rain forecast, a decision which looks vindicated after the weather of the last few days.
Heys will hope for further vindication on the pitch as they seek a fifth successive win in all competitions.
It’s a run that has took them to the fringe of the play off spots in the League and progress in two cup competitions, including a 1-0 win over Premier Division Winsford in the opening round of the Macron Cup.
Darwen also enjoyed victory over Premier Division opposition in the opening round with a 3-1 win at Congleton Town.
It’s been a tough season so far for the Lancashire side, who are presently third from bottom of the Division One table.
They have undergone a change of Management during the season with Kenny Langford succeeding Luke Evans in late September after a difficult start to the season, which was not helped by having to play their first six League games away whilst their new pitch was laid.
Darwen will hope to use the new surface to their advantage and will enter the game with optimism on the back of a determined performance in the Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy at Radcliffe last week where only an 86th minute penalty secured victory for the Bet Victor Northern Premier Division side.
The winners of Wednesday night’s tie will be at home to Abbey Hulton United or AFC Liverpool on 7th December. With Heys and Darwen due to meet in the League that day, whatever, the outcome, the respective clubs League fixtures on that day will be postponed.
