Two goal lead lost but Heys make it to Hospital Cup semi-finals

Heys lost a two goal lead but rallied magnificently to defeat Turton 4-3 in a thrilling Bolton Hospital Cup tie tonight.

The victory puts Jon Lyons' team into the semi-finals where they will face CMB Sports, with a visit to Bolton's Macron Stadium in the Final the prize on offer.

In tonight's game, Heys started sluggishly but with arguably their first attack of note took the lead in the 9th minute. Dalton McLaughlin finished a slick build up with a pass in behind the defence from which Jamie Baguley rifled home (pictured).

The goal lifted Heys and it took three great saves by Turton 'keeper Josh McGreevy to deny Lee Bruce, McLaughlin and Max White.

Turton were dangerous on attack and Matt Farnworth headed against the post before McGreevy was again in action to thwart White.

However, on the half hour there was to be no denying Greg Wills who increased Heys lead with a scorching 25 yard shot that flew into the roof of the net.

Five minutes later though Turton were back in it as a speculative shot took a wicked deflection off a divot infront of Heys 'keeper Sam Modlinsky to bounce over his dive into the net

The goal changed the complexion of the match and from the second half restart Turton took control.

Heys were unable to establish any rhythm as the visitors pressed reducing the arrears from the penalty spot in the 52nd minute.

Turton were flying now and only a super last ditch block, on the goal line, by Liam Dunn, prevented them taking the lead.

However, it proved a temporary respite as in their next attack Turton did take the lead with a precise finish into the bottom corrner.

It seemed difficult to see how Heys could come back but they lifted themselves off the canvas to level with a stunning team goal with ten minutes remaining. A length of field build up was ended by a cool finish by White.

Heys were now buzzing and with three minutes left they took the lead. A great run into the box and low cross by Baguley was met by the incoming Shaun Johnson who slotted home from six yards.

The action was still not over however, as in the dying seconds Modlinsky saved superbly to thwart Turton and confirm Heys victory.
