Heys pre-season goal feast continued tonight as they romped to a 7-0 win at Howe Bridge Mills in the Atherton Charity Cup, with Steve Charles hitting a hat-trick.
The hosts were beaten semi-finalists last season and defeated Heys in this competition two years ago. However, they were totally outplayed from start to finish tonight as Heys booked their place in the last eight of the competition having won their other group fixture 6-0 at Breightmet.
It took Heys just eight minutes to open their account when Mark Baguley finished after good work by Chris Quirk down the right.
Charles notched his first three minutes later and it then took a great save from the home 'keeper to deny Greg Wills.
The hosts stopper excelled again in denying Max White in the 29th minute but was not so fortunate in seeing Charles following up for his second and Heys third.
Three minutes later Pete Hickford headed home from a White corner a lead Heys retained to the half time interval.
Indeed it was not until the 71st minute that they added to their total.
After Howe Bridge had been reduced to ten men a quick free kick move by White and Liam Dunn released Quirk who played Hickford in for a smart finish .
White then burst through the remnants of the home defence to smash home Heys sixth in the 79th minute.
Greg Wills fired over moments later before the scoring and Charles hat-trick was completed in the 84th minute as he smashed home from a Quirk cross.
