Goals from George Powell, Jamie Baguley (pictured) and an own goal secured a win for Heys that gives them maximum points from their first two games. A point in their final match at home to Ainsworth would guarantee a home draw in the last eight.

Heys could have been out of sight in the first ten minutes as Powell, Martin Love and Lee Bruce were all denied by impressive Heywood 'keeper Matt Holmes.

Bruce was to be thwarted again before with their first real attack Heywood took the lead with Milson Rees providing a good finish.

However, Heys were level within two minutes. Baguley was the latest to be denied by Holmes, but this time the ball broke favourably for Powell to finish from close range.

Darius Photiou then hit the post and Danny Eyres was thwarted by Holmes as Heys made all the running on the back of some impressive football.

In the 30th minute, their pressure told. Baguley, so often at the hub of Heys best moves, this time turned finisher, as he lifted a shot into the roof of the net after a Bruce pass opened up the home defence.

Heys were unable to build on their lead and it made for a more uncomfortable second half as Heywood came more into the game.

Both teams had half chances but never really troubled each other's goal.

Home hopes though were dashed in a matter of minutes midway through the half as first Heywood were reduced to ten men for an alleged head butt before then conceding an own goal to settle matters.
