Weekend preview : Heys host unbeaten Alsager

Reserves face cup derby at Elton Vale

Heys welcome unbeaten Alsager Town to Adie Moran Park tomorrow in the Hallmark Security League Division One (3pm).

The match is a meeting of two teams very much inform with Heys having suffered only defeat in their last eight games.

Alsager were relegated from the Premier Division last season but under new Manager Scott Dundas they have made an impressive start as they look for a swift return to the top tier.

Dundas has an impressive track record at this level having been Manager of the Norton United side that won promotion from the First Division in 2012, as well as winning the First Division Trophy. He then led them to the Premier Division title and promotion to the Evo-Stik League in 2014.

His current side, in looking to match those feats, are presently fourth in the table having scored 21 goals in their eight matches played. Striker Michael Lennon has been to the fore scoring eight of those goals.

Both sides have been prolific in front of goal with Heys tally of 26 making them the second highest scorers in the division.

Presently seventh in the table, Heys sit on the cusp of the play off positions and with Manager Jon Lyons (pictured) identifying Alsager as one of the promotion favorites he will be looking at this match as a benchmark for his own ambitions this season.

Meanwhile Heys Reserves take a break from league action when they travel to Elton Vale in the Manchester League’s Gilgryst Cup 1st round. (2pm).

After their 1-0 home win over Walshaw in the Qualifying round it’s another cup derby for Tony Hanson’s side to relish against a Vale side who were promoted to the Premier Division last season.

Vale are presently second bottom with six points from six games and reached this stage of the Cup with a 6-1 home win over Heywood St. James.

Heys are four points clear at the top of the 1st Division table having won every match they have played this season. If they can continue that run tomorrow a place in the last eight of this competition, won by Heys 1st team last season, awaits.
