Cain and Boswell doubles give Reserves emphatic win at Uppermill

Two first half goals by Paul Tierney gave Heys a 2-0 home win over Silsden today.

The Heys front man delivered two superb, almost identical, finishes to sink the West Yorkshire side on a wet afternoon at Adie Moran Park.

This was not Heys most fluent performance of the season thus far but it was a solid one. Jon Lyons team showed defensive resilience against a lively Silsden side whilst maintaining a threat in attack with Tierney taking both his goals with aplomb.

His first came in the 29th minute as he sprang the visitors offside trap to go thorough and lift a curling shot over the keeper into the far top corner.

On the stroke of half time he delivered again. Once again the Silsden offside trap proved fragile as Lee Bruce dinked a ball over the top and this time Tierney lobbed the keeper with a shot that dipped just under the bar.

In driving rain and with the wind in their faces Heys had to defend well in the second half as Silsden sought a way through but it was not until the closing moments that Kallum Campbell Rose was called into action as he tipped a free kick against the post.

Erike Sousa was a threat on the break for Heys throughout and was twice denied by the Silsden keeper as Heys moved up to 8th in the table.

Full report to follow.

Heys Reserves maintained their 100% record with a comfortable 4-0 win at Uppermill.
Ryan Cain put them on the way with a 14th minute penalty before adding Heys second in the 40th minute.

The hosts, relegated from the Premier Division last season, rarely troubled Heys and Liam Boswell scored two goals in as many minutes, the first from the spot in the 70th minute to seal victory.
