....and Reserves late rally secures another victory

Heys overcame an early shock to romp to a 6-1 win over Manchester Gregorians this afternoon.

The hardy souls who braved the rain at Eccles College were treated to some superb football as Jon Lyon's side maintained their position at the top of the table.

However, the outlook looked bleak early on as Gregs started at a rip roaring pace to pen Heys back and they took the lead in the 7th minute when Matt Dodwell headed home from a corner.

However, as Heys showed signs of steadying the ship they levelled in the 13th minute as Jamie Baguley headed home from a Max White corner.

In a fast paced game Heys passing game began to wear Gregs down and two goals in as many minutes just before half time put them in command.

White curled in a stunning free kick and then Lee Bruce headed home from a corner.

The game was soon put to bed after half time as within five minutes of the restart an own goal and a close range Paul Tierney finish took the game beyond Gregs.

An emphatic win was rounded off five minutes from time when great interplay between White and Dalton McLaughlin saw the latter release Wes Bancroft to slot home.

Heys are top on goal difference from Royton who were impressive 4-1 winners at Stockport Georgians. Heys have three games in hand and the pair are five points clear of the rest setting up a titanic game at Royton next Saturday.

Full match report to follow.
