Reserves can influence relegation dog fight in their last match of the season on Saturday

The final game of a triumphant season takes Heys Reserves to AFC Monton on Saturday.

With the title having been secured a fortnight ago, with four games to spare, it has been something of a long lap of honour for Heys.
However, they have retained their focus and collected seven points from their last three games, all against sides in the relegation mix.

A similar challenge awaits on Saturday. Monton kick off in the relegation zone and need a win in this their final game if they are to have a chance of staying up.

With East Manchester and Hollinwood already down the third and final relegation places lies between Monton (29pts), Elton Vale (30), who are at home to Springhead and Walshaw (31), who have completed their fixtures.

With a ten goal goal difference to make up on Elton Vale a draw seems unlikely to be of help for Monton even if Vale fail to get anything. However, they know the win will make them safe sending either one of the two Bury sides down.

Heys will be looking to maintain their impressive record of only having suffered one league defeat all season and extend their present unbeaten run to 19 games. A win would also take them onto 61 points and a 13 point title winning margin.

The sides met at the start of April when Heys won 5-1 at Adie Moran Park.

Jeff Kavanagh’s side have shown little sign of easing up so an exciting climax to the season looks on the cards at New Alder Park, kick off 2pm.

The ground is off Worsley Road, Winton, Salford M30 8JN

Directions: From M60 junction 13 take B5211 signposted Eccles. Go past Bridgewater Hotel, and Barton Arms, and the entrance is approx 250 yards on right hand side.
