Reserves held at home

Heys got back to winning ways with a comfortable 4-0 win at East Manchester this afternoon.

Although they endured one or two hairy moments in the early part of each half Heys ultimately cruised to victory to end a run of four games without a win.

Danny Eyres gave them the lead after nine minutes with a close range finish after good work by Erike Sousa.

However, Easts had a great chance to level after 19 minutes when they were awarded a penalty but Rob Sadler dropped to his left to save.

That spurred Heys on to take a grip on proceedings and they added to their tally in the 42nd minute with an absolute pile driver of a free kick by Shaun Johnson.

Easts made a spirited start to the second half and caused Heys a couple of anxious moments before Ryan McGreevy (pictured) effectively sealed matters in the 56th minute as he went round the 'keeper to score after good work by Eyres.

Heys could have increased their lead but had to wait until the 83rd minute to do so when Greg Wills sent a free kick flying into the top corner.

Full report to follow.

Heys Reserves were held to a 0-0 draw by East Manchester Reserves at Adie Moran Park.

In an untidy game Jeff Kavanagh's side had the better of it but were unable to unlock the visitors defence.

Full report and the view of our junior reporter Jack Gardiner to follow.
