Heys welcome Padiham to Adie Moran Park looking to cement their position in amongst the leading pack in the NW Counties Premier Division.
Lee O’Brien and James Hampson’s side have steadily climbed the table in the past month and Saturday’s win at Ashton Athletic was their fifth League win in six matches. With Cup Football taking the spotlight for the next fortnight the Heys Management team will very much be hoping to sign out with another win to keep on the tails of the unbeaten top duo of Vauxhall Motors and Wythenshawe Town, the latter of whom they face at the end of this month.
A win would retain fourth place whilst putting Heys two thirds of the way to their overall points tally of last season. Tonight’s game also marks a point where a third of the League programme will have been completed, a handy reference point to judge progress so far.
Padiham, will also reach that point tonight and will look to continue their undoubted progress. Like Heys, their minds were occupied in avoiding relegation for large parts of last season. A strong finish however, saw them ease those fears early and attain a 13th placed finish with 50 points, five more than Heys.
After a shaky start to the season that brought only four points from the first six games Michael Morrison’s side have steadily climbed the table since. Five successive wins were followed by a draw and a defeat. However, they returned to winning ways with a 1-0 win on the Isle of Man at the weekend.
Sitting ninth in the table with 20 points from 13 games, Padiham also possess one of the divisions’ top strikers in Joel Brownhill, who has found the next twelve times in 14 appearances.
The Storks took five points off Heys last season, including a 3-2 win here at Adie Moran Park and Heys will have to be on top of their game if they are to avoid a repeat.
