Heys begin a run of three consecutive home games when they welcome Chadderton to Adie Moran Park on Saturday.
They will be looking to bounce back from Wednesday’s night defeat at AFC Liverpool, their first loss of 2020.
It leaves Heys with much to do if they are clinch a promotion place. They are eleven points off fourth placed Shelley on whom they have two games in hand.
There is much to do but although the score line looked bad on paper on Wednesday, it did not tell the full story of the game.
Heys played some great football and enjoyed good periods of control in the game but were undone by some clinical finishing by the hosts, who are the highest scorers in the division.
As Coach Mark Dickinson said “I Can’t question the effort from the lads, brave to get on the ball and play, built from the back and played through the 3rds, pressed collectively, worked hard. It’s a Difficult one to swallow but the opposition were ruthless in front of goal, football is a cruel game sometimes”
Manager Matt Barnes added “I was proud of my Lads tonight; they didn't deserve to lose 3-0 at all having most of the play and playing some great footy against a decent AFC Liverpool side. Some team is in for an absolute hammering soon”
Saturday’s opponents Chadderton will prove another tough hurdle to overcome. They presently sit 12th in the table, a point behind Heys, albeit having played three games more.
They arrive in decent form, fifth in the form table and on the back of an impressive 3-2 win at Ashton Town. Despite losing personnel over the season, Reece Lyndon and James Dwyer to Heys to name but two, Chaddy Manager Dave Fish has continued to refresh his side and get results.
