The New Year starts as did the season with a game against Golcar United on Saturday when the Yorkshire side make their first ever visit to Adie Moran Park (3pm).
Heys will be hoping for a better outcome this around. They never recovered from a lack lustre start to that opening fixture as the league newcomers swept to a 3-1 victory.
Golcar were amongst the early pacesetters but have found it difficult to maintain that momentum as the season has progressed and arrive on Saturday with four defeats in their last five games.
However, Heys League form mirrors that and as they hit the midway point in their fixtures are still striving for any form of consistency.
Only a point separates the teams in the table with Heys on 25 points from eighteen games with Golcar having played one fewer.
After the disappointing defeat at Darwen last Saturday, Matt Barnes, in what will be his first home game as Manager, will be looking for an improved performance to push his side up the table at the start of a busy month that sees Heys set to play seven matches, weather permitting.
It’s a critical period, by the end of it the home straight will be in sight and we will have a better idea of what the remainder of the season will mean for Heys.
