Heys welcome Carlisle City to Adie Moran Park this evening looking to maintain their push for promotion from the Hallmark Security League Division One.
Saturday’s crushing 8-1 victory over Stockport Town saw Heys move into third place in the table on a day when promotion rivals Whitchurch lost 4-1 at New Mills and Sandbach were held at AFC Blackpool.
That game saw Heys complete a spell of ten games in 25 days, eight of which were won. It keeps Jon Lyon’s team very much in the thick of the promotion race. Subject to an almighty collapse in form, they seem on course for a place in the play-offs but as long as it remains a possibility they will hunt down an automatic promotion place.
Carlisle’s form has been unpredictable throughout the season. However, on their day they have proved they are a very capable side with victories over Litherland and Whitchurch in the record books.
When the sides last met at Carlisle, on the Saturday prior to Christmas, Heys won 3-0. It’s a result they will need to repeat tonight to keep their promotion hopes ticking over.
