Heys welcome Nelson to Adie Moran Park on Saturday afternoon looking to maintain their impressive form which has seen them go eight games without defeat, seven of which have been won.
The most recent of those was last Saturday’s victory at Whitchurch. Whilst, not able to repeat their free scoring form of previous games, Heys showed another facet to their play – the ability to tough it out.
In difficult conditions and with several players missing against their promotion rivals, Jon Lyons team showed great spirit and determination to gain the win – the type of display that any side has to produce if they are to be successful in the long term.
However, as welcome as the win was, Heys know it will count for little if they don’t follow up on Saturday with the same mindset – on several occasions last season they produced a good performance against one of the top sides only to then come unstuck in matches against teams in the lower reaches of the table.
They come up against a Nelson side who have steadied in recent weeks after a disastrous start to the season which saw them lose nine of their first ten games.
Whilst they remain second bottom of the table, they have enjoyed away wins in the League at Cheadle and at Blackpool in the Macron Cup in recent weeks and will look build on that against Heys this weekend.
