Heys return to Adie Moran Park on Saturday afternoon as they welcome Burscough for what looks a must win game.
Heys picked up a creditable point away at Abbey Hey last Sunday, but it was a bad weekend for them as the three sides directly above, Colne, South Liverpool and Pilkington all won. It meant Heys were left three points off safety at the end of the weekend.
This weekend sees Heys as the only side of the bottom five with a home game and you feel that if they are to survive in the Premier Division, they need to make it count, with after tomorrow, only six matches remaining.
They will come up against a Burscough side unbeaten in their last three games and with only one defeat in their last five matches, which have yielded ten points, to head off any relegation fears for themselves. Their last two wins have seen them defeat Isle of Man at home and secure an impressive 2-1 win at Irlam. They now sit seventeenth with 48 points from 38 games.
Whilst their own fears of the drop have gone, they can have a say who goes down as they host Colne next Saturday. Amongst their playing squad is striker Kyle Preece, who has had spells at both Heys and Colne this season, so he could help determine which of his former clubs go down.
Heys are four games without a win, since their stirring win at West Didsbury & Chorlton, and they will need to rediscover that level of performance as they look to rein in those above them.
