After a blank weekend Prestwich Heys return to action on Thursday night with a trip to Lower Breck in the North West Counties Premier Division (8pm.)
Heys were without a scheduled League fixture last Saturday and the weather put paid to a planned friendly with Uppermill, but they will travel to Merseyside in good spirits on the back of their crucial 2-1 win over Squires Gate in their last outing on 4th January.
The latter was a must win game for Heys, if they were to keep their hopes of avoiding relegation alive, and the win coupled with a further defeat for Squires Gate last Tuesday, has kept them very much in the hunt.
Heys are still seven points off safety, but now also have a game in hand but with sixteen games to play it is a bridgeable gap. The trip to Lower Breck represents one of the trickier hurdles in Heys run in. The Anfield based side are fourth in the table and go into the game on the back of seven successive wins, in a nine-game unbeaten run in League and Cup that includes a notable 4-3 win over Bury.
Lower Breck are a big physical side and were 1-0 winners at Adie Moran Park earlier in the season, but Heys will hope to build on a run of encouraging performances which have brought two wins in the last four games.
