For the second season running Heys welcome Litherland REMYCA to Adie Moran Park in the Extra Preliminary Round of the FA Cup.

At this stage in last year's competition Heys ran out 3-1 winners although Litherland gained a measure of revenge as they won both League encounters. The Merseysiders won 4-3 at home before a 1-0 win in the return late in the season which ensured they completed a remarkable escape from what seemed, for a long time, like certain relegation.

It will be different looking sides that meet up this time around however, with Heys under new Management under Lee O’Brien and James Hampson and both clubs having been busy on the recruitment front in the Summer.

At REMYCA, Paul Bowes, manager of NWCFL Premier Division side Burscough FC last season, joined their coaching staff over the summer. He joined manager Colin McDonald, who was appointed part way through last season, current player Mikey Ordish and goalkeeping coach Gary Brookes on the coaching staff and who over saw the dramatic relegation escape.

They have made a host of new signings in the summer, with a number of players coming from Bootle FC and Burscough, respectively.

In the new season, Heys have opened with a win and a defeat with the 3-0 win over Burscough last Saturday followed by the midweek loss at West Didsbury & Chorlton. Litherland, have lost both their opening games, losing 1-0 away at Bury AFC before a 2-1 home defeat to Isle of Man on Wednesday night. However, it’s impossible to judge form at this early stage of the season and as we know it counts for nothing anyway in the FA Cup.

The FA have re-introduced replays this season so if the scores are level at 90 minutes it will be back to Merseyside in midweek.

The winners of the tie will be at home in the Preliminary Round against the winners of Stocksbridge Park Steels (Northern Premier League East) and Golcar United (Northern Counties Premier Division) on Saturday 20th August.
