Heys welcome Charnock Richard to Adie Moran Park this evening in the 2nd round of the Lancashire Challenge Trophy.
Both sides received “byes” in the opening round so will seeking a place in the last eight. They both come into the game in good form.
Heys are unbeaten in their last eleven games, ten of which have been won, the most recent being Saturday's stunning 6-0 win at Sandbach. The victory also meant that Heys have scored 42 goals in that run. With players returning from injury, Jon Lyons has a near full strength squad at his disposal for the game, that kicks off a busy spell of five games in 14 days.
Charnock though will provide formidable opposition. After their promotion last season to the Premier Division they have really taken to life in the top tier.
They presently sit fourth in the table with 25 points from eleven games and within striking distance of the summit. In many ways they have carried on where they left off last season with striker Carl Grimshaw leading the way again, averaging a goal a game with eleven to his credit so far.
In last season’s meetings Charnock won both games. A 5-2 home win was followed by a 3-0 win at Adie Moran Park.
If the scores are level after 90 minutes tonight’s game will be decided by a penalty shootout.
