Heys travel to FC Oswestry Town on Saturday looking to maintain their push for promotion from Hallmark Security League Division One.
After a poor run in of form in November, Jon Lyons’ team have put together a four-match unbeaten run that has seen them collect ten points. They sit third in the table, tucked in behind the top two teams, Silsden and Litherland as the race for promotion hots up.
Three of those four games have been on the road with long haul trips to Holker, Carlisle and Abbey Hulton yielding seven points. Saturday’s trip to Oswestry is the last of the long journeys Heys will have to make this season and they will travel looking to exorcise the ghost of last season’s visit to the Venue.
On the corresponding weekend last year, Oswestry put Heys to the sword, winning 4-0, in what was one of the bleaker days of the campaign.
It is something they will hope to put right but they face a tough challenge against a side who have transformed their season after a dreadful start.
Town suffered twelve defeats in their first thirteen games, which included losing their first nine matches. One of those defeats was at Adie Moran Park in August when Heys won 5-2.
A 4-0 win at New Mills, in mid-October sparked a run that has seen 12 of the last 18 League and Cup games won. Town sit 12th in the table with 31 points from 26 games. In striker Jack Harris they possess one of the Division’s top scorers with 14 goals.
This is a tough assignment for Heys as they look to hit the 50-point mark in their promotion quest.
