Heys travel to Premier Division Burscough in the Macron Cup 3rd round, on Tuesday night (7.45pm).
After being knocked out on penalties in the 2nd round, Heys were re-instated in the competition, when it was found that Nelson had fielded three ineligible players.
As a result, Heys will now compete in the last sixteen of the competition against a Burscough side who after a slow start to the season have climbed into mid table.
Heys boss Jon Lyons, speaking immediately after the draw, said “I am pleased we have avoided the big Premier Division teams, but this is still a tough draw for us, away from home and to be played midweek. It will be a good test for us but one which I am looking forward too against a well-established club”.
The clubs have met twenty nine times over the years in the Lancashire Combination, Cheshire League and North-West Counties League. The last meeting was in 1982 in the North-West Counties League Cup 3rd round, when Third Division Heys came from behind, scoring three times in the last ten minutes, to win 3-2 over their Premier Division opponents.
