Derby challenge as Heys look to cement lead at the top.

Heys Reserves bounced back to winning ways at Royton Town last Saturday to open up a five point lead at the top of the table.

On Saturday, they return to Adie Moran Park to face Walshaw Sports in a repeat of the opening day fixtures.

Back then Jeff Kavanagh’s side ran out 7-1 winners to start their stunning start to the season which has seen them win seven of their opening eight games.

It would seem foolish to expect history to repeat itself this weekend and the Heys boss will seek to ensure that there is no complacency from his players.

After finishing runners up last season Walshaw have struggled thus far this season and will travel sitting second bottom of the table, with four points from five games.

However, the usual spice provided by a local derby is sure to raise the stakes and Heys know that despite their great start, that is all it is.

With second placed Wythenshawe Amateurs travelling to AVRO, Heys could if they are successful and the latter win, open up an eight point lead at the top – incentive enough, if ever one was needed in the first place.

Kick off at Adie Moran Park is 2pm. Admission FREE.
