Saturday, Adie Moran Park, 2pm.

Heys run of tough fixtures against the Premier Division’s current pacesetters continues on Saturday when they face Walshaw Sports at Adie Moran Park.

Walshaw go into the first meeting of the season between the clubs in a rich vein of form. The Bury side are unbeaten in their last four games with three wins and a draw to their credit, whilst amassing nineteen goals in the process.

It’s a run that has lifted them up to third in the table, five points behind leaders Wythenshawe Amateurs.

Like, Heys they have faced Wythenshawe twice. They were beaten 3-2 at Sycamore Lane before going down 2-1 in the away return.

However, whilst unlucky against the leaders, Walshaw fared better at second placed Stockport Georgians, winning their 4-0 at the end of August.

It represents another tough task for Heys who by Saturday evening will have faced five successive fixtures against likely title challengers.

The four games played so far have yielded four points, all against Wythenshawe Amateurs. Whilst losing to Dukinfield and AFC Monton, Jon Lyons side can point to good performances in both those tussles.

In the last three games at home to Dukinfield and Wythenshawe and the away trip to Monton, they have controlled long periods of each game and with a greater cutting edge could arguably be going into Saturday on the back of four successive wins.

However, since the 5-0 win at Wythenshawe, those three games have seen Heys short on options upfront with Chris Denham, Mark Drew and Conor Landers all unavailable, leaving Paul Tierney as the sole striker.

Denham and Drew should both be back this weekend to increase Jon Lyons’ options as he looks for his side to make their impressive football count.
