Adie Moran Park, Saturday, 2pm. ADMISSION FREE.

Heys welcome Manchester Gregorians to Adie Moran Park on Saturday looking for three valuable points to lift them up the table.

No one can envisaged that Heys would be 4th bottom of the table after five games but that it is where they find themselves amidst some patchy form.

In cup football Heys have looked impressive, but they have, as yet, not been able to transfer that to the league.

Although the leading four clubs in the table are threatening to breakaway only four points separates fifth from second bottom so there is ample scope for quick progression up the table.

Saturday’s game provides a good opportunity against a Gregorians side who have the same number of points (5) than Heys but sit them above them on goal difference.

The Moss Side outfit narrowly avoided relegation last season and have had a tough opening to the current season. An opening day draw at Royton was followed by a 2-0 home win over AVRO.

However, a defeat at Atherton followed before a home draw with Stockport Georgians and defeat at Walshaw last week. In between they won 2-1 at Rochdale Sacred Heart in the Lancashire Shield.

Heys manager Jon Lyons will be looking for his side to pick up their first home points of the season. With Shaun Johnson the only long term injury absentee, the Heys boss on paper, has a strong squad from which to choose, but it has not always been transpired come match day as injury niggles and work commitments have hampered selection.

He will hope that such problems will not be apparent on Saturday as he looks to climb the table. Even at this early stage he will not want to lose any further ground on the pacesetters.

A repeat of last season would do nicely. Heys completed a league double over Gregs, winning 3-2 at Platt Lane and followed it with a 2-0 home success.
