Reserves travel to East Manchester

Heys return to League action this weekend as they welcome Old Alts to Adie Moran Park, kick off 2pm.

After three weeks on the road, home fans will be hoping for Heys to continue their unbeaten start to the season against an Old Alts side who were promoted from the 1st Division as Champions last season.

Indeed, the Crossford Bridge side swept all before them, taking 52 points out of a possible 66 as they made a first time return to the top flight following their relegation in the previous 2013-14 season.

Heys will recall vividly the last visit Old Alts made to Prestwich.

Heys entered the game on the back of a nine match unbeaten run, hunting for the Premier Division title and knowing a win would put them top.

Old Alts were playing their last game of their season and also needed a win to stand any chance of avoiding the drop and they duly took the honours with a 2-1 win. However, it was not enough to save them from the drop.

Heys never fully recovered from the defeat and ended up finishing fourth in the table.

This season, Heys go into the game in similar form but will look to avoid a similar outcome.

Old Alts, are 9th in the table with 9 points from nine games but after a slow start they have shown signs of finding their feet in recent weeks. They defeated Rochdale Sacred Heart 4-2 last Saturday and two weeks ago thumped Hindsford 5-1 in the Gilgryst Cup.

Admission is £2/£1. Our revamped Touchliner programme will be available for £1 with news, match reports, results and fixtures. Additionally there are articles from Jon Lyons, Neil Gilmore and a new feature called Question Time. This week Shaun Johnson answers questions about himself, his time at Heys and his team mates.

Table topping Heys Reserves are in league action at East Manchester. (2.30pm)

It will be the second meeting of the season between the clubs with Heys having won an Open Trophy tie 5-0 just three weeks ago.

East are presently second bottom with three points from seven games.

Whilst the form book would suggest Heys start favourites they will travel knowing East have proved tricky opponents in the past and were one of the few sides to take any points off them last season in drawing 0-0 at Adie Moran Park.

The return fixture proved just as tricky and although Heys won 5-2 it was not until late in the game that Heys took the lead and went onto win.
