Reserves travel to Atherton Town

Heys host Daisy Hill on Saturday looking to build on Wednesday night’s impressive win at Litherland.

The victory capped a three match run of away wins and has kept hopes of a play-off place alive for Jon Lyons team.

The challenge, as they now embark on a run of five games in the next fortnight, four of which are at home, is to keep up the momentum and look to break into the top six.

Heys have won away in all four of the games they have played against the current top six but have all too often not followed it through against sides elsewhere in the Division.

It is something Lyons and his Management team have been working on with the players in recent weeks.

Saturday’s opponents Daisy Hill started the season slowly but from early Autumn pushed into the top half of the table on the back of some eye catching results most notably taking four points from their two fixtures with City of Liverpool.

In Ashley Stott they possess the Division’s top goal scorer with 33 goals in 32 appearances and are a dangerous side who could readily derail a Heys side who have won five of their last seven games.

When the sides met early in the season at Daisy Hill the honours went Heys way with a 4-1 win.

Atherton are five points in front of Heys who again have five games in hand. However, with a busy run in to the end of the season they can ill afford to slip further behind and find themselves with too much catching up to do in the roulette that is midweek night games.

Atherton have lost only once in the last 14 games, of which 12 have been won. It’s a tough test but having led the way at the top for much of the season it is one Heys are capable of overcoming
