Heys welcome Chorley to Adie Moran Park on Wednesday night in the 1st round of the Partners Foundation Lancashire Challenge Trophy.

It's the first time in 30 years that Heys have been involved in the competition following their promotion to the Hallmark Security League.

For Chorley the game marks the start of their defence of the Trophy which they won last season after beating Lancaster City 3-1 on penalties in the Final after the sides had finished level at 2-2 at the Macron Stadium.

It was a record 17th success in the competition for the Lancashire side.

Chorley have made a strong start to the season and sit fifth in the National League table with 23 points from 12 games. They have suffered just one defeat thus far whilst amongst their scalps has been big spending Salford, whom they beat 2-1 at Victory park a fortnight ago.

They have also made progress in the FA Cup and travel to Spennymoor in the 3rd qualifying round on Saturday.

Heys come into the game buoyed by Saturday’s 4-0 win over Carlisle City having adapted well to life in the world of semi-professional football.

Whilst Chorley are likely to make changes for the game they will still prove a stiff test for Heys but under the new lights for the 1st time it is a clash they are looking forward too.

Heys, who have never won this Trophy, last met Chorley in this competition was back in 1982-83 season when goals from Chris Ricketts and club record signing Billy Hughes secured a 2-2 draw at Victory Park.

However, in the replay, four days later, again played at Victory Park as Heys had no lights, Chorley won 4-0.

The Challenge Trophy is open to clubs from step 6 upwards and has 19 entries with this first round tie one of three with the remainder of the teams having a bye to the second round.
